Kamakura is a city located about 50 kilometres south-west from Tokyo. It is a historical city, surrounded by mountains and sea (Sagami Bay). It is popular also thanks to an amount of temples and shrines. On the trip I was accompanied by three students and both bosses. We visited Enoshima Island where there is a lookout (with a view on Mt. Fuji, during good weather, of course), a temple and a tropical garden.
A bronz big Buddha statue is located in the area (nearly 12 metres of high, a 1m wide eye). The other shrines we didn´t managed to visit because night came soon and so shrines were closed also soon. So we recompesed it by visiting a local traditional place where was served traditional food - "Oshiruko", sweet (very sweet) bean soup with rice dumplings and a green beated tea. In the evening we went for a dinner into a Chinese restaurant:-), on the occassion of Konosuke´s and Tommy´s birthdays (and it wasn´t easy to persuade Konosuke that I would pay for the dinner, when he had the birthday):-)). |
